New King on the Mobile Throne?

Samsung Throw Down the Gauntlet in Vegas

PageTiger escaped Blighty’s bibilical weather for the bright neon lights of Vegas for CES 2014. In between frozen margaritas and roulette wheels, we hunted the gadget jungle for the latest tech.

Our Tiger favourite? Samsung’s new 12.2 inch Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO tablets. These Slimline monsters will combat Microsoft’s Surface Pro and are more than a match for the ipad and ipad mini.

Tech-talk
Each of the tablets features:
12.2-inch super-clear LCD display (2,560 x 1,600 pixels)
2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage.
8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
9,500 mAh battery.
Android 4.4 KitKat.
Wi-fi-only or LTE connectivity.
1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor OR 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (Depending on version).

New Year’s resolution
Lets be in no doubt, Samsung have hit 2014 swinging big punches. We know, we had a play. And then bumped into JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics who told us, “We created the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO series to kick-off a year in which Samsung truly establishes its leadership in the tablet market.” And the trumpet blowing didn’t stop there, “This new line offers the best-in-class content consumption and productivity, combining a stunning viewing experience with Samsung’s design legacy. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO truly demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with extraordinarily versatile product offerings, tailored to tablet users of every description.”

Despite attempts to ply him with frozen maragaritas, JK Shin and the rest of the Samsung crew were all secretive MI-6 about the actual launch date. So keep them peeled.

So what does it all mean?
With the ever growing demand for versatile performance and the fusion of form and function being the mantra of modern day design, tablet users can look forward to a year of big tablet battles – all to the benefit of the user.

Versatility
At PageTiger we love versatility. Which is why we can confidently trumpet blow an entirely versatile e-publishing platform – on whatever tablet, mobile or browser you or your customers have. Tablets are our favourite format and heavy-hitting launches like Samsung’s only emphasise the power of the tablet revolution. The extra dimension of touch allows the user to explore the screen – an experience that is more enjoyable and evocative than just viewing.

As the demand for instantly accessible and on-the-move media increases, businesses making the switch over from print publishing will find themselves looking for powerful online publishing solutions, that work on everything from an old PC to Samsung’s latest tablet toys.
